Visual Identity for Kater Berlin

In 2024, I was asked to re-invent the visual identity of Kater, a night club in Berlin, that has a rich history in the city, dating back to it’s days as the legandary Bar 25 in the early two thousands. They wanted to keep their playful style full of colour and curiousity while also wanting to appealing a younger audience.

Client: Kater Club
Role:
Art Direction, Illustration and Graphic Design

I started by creating a logo and poster layout for their event series called Katernacht. Since it happens multiple times a month, the posters would keep the same layout and dip into different worlds I had designed each month to live in. Some of them were based on the season, some on elements of the interior of the club and others highlighted one major party that was happening.

Here is a selection of my favourite posters!

The logo became a second identifier of the club next to the minimal cat logo and this lead to me designing and hand-painting the entrance sign of the club with the same letters. Kater had always been known to have a giant arrow pointing to the entrace which used to be a tiny door and therefore difficult to find. While the door is a lot bigger now,
we kept the arrow as a nod to the past.
